Bakthapur Collection
Hannah Collins and Gina Ventos worked with Karuna Social Programme in Nepal to produce a series of scarves. Karuna provide work for local women in Kathmandu and Bakthapur and also help them determine the future shape of their lives.
We worked with the women taking part in the programme and produced a series of scarves based on images of their experiences. For one scarf the heights of the mountains of Nepal including Everest - that are the first numbers learnt by all Nepali schoolchildren - were used as the inspiration and imagery for the scarf that has the names and heights of the twelve highest mountains embroidered by hand on the scarf.
